Donna Miner was raised in the small farming community of Milford, CT in a family that took great joy in animal husbandry. In addition to raising cattle, horses, and various domestic fowl, they bred Miniature Schnauzers. As an adult, Donna acquired her own miniature schnauzers and enjoyed competing with them in Obedience.
Donna was affiliated with Tails-U-Win! in Manchester, CT between 1994-2004 as a Puppy Kindergarten instructor sharing positive training skills with over 3000 families and their new puppies.
In 1995, her adventures in whippets began with a puppy named Sheimar's Perfect Alibi (Libby) acquired from Leslie Nelson. Thus began a long career enjoying lure coursing and whippet racing. Libby became the foundation of Domino Whippets in 2000 when she whelped a litter of five pups sired by a top racing whippet, Wheatland Bengal WRCHX SORC4 SC ROMX, courtesy of his owner, Lynne McGowan.
As a 20+ year member of the Nathan Hale Obedience Club, Donna served on the Board of Directors for over 5 years. She was a founding member of the New England Whippet Club (NEWC), Gazehounds of New England (GONE), and Whippets In New England (WINE). She is a current member of the American Whippet Club and serves on the BOD for WINE and the Continential Whippet Alliance.
Over the past three decades, Domino Whippets has become a noted producer of highly competitive and verstatile whippets, having earned numerous AKC Field Championships, ASFA Field Championships, Oval Racing Championships, Straight Racing Championships (both WRA and CWA), Agility, Rally, Scent Detection and Obedience titles. More recently, Domino Whippets has begun to enjoy success showing in Conformation and has finished a number of AKC Champions and Grand Champions.
Domino Whippets is thrilled to have been invited to participate in breeding projects with a number of younger breeders starting multifunctional breeding programs of their own. Donna enjoys a strong reputation as a mentor and supporter to her clients who want to experience the thrill of competition with their whippets.
Donna is a 1976 graduate of the University of Connecticut (1976) with a B.A. in French & Education, followed by post-graduate study in computer science at the University of Hartford and RPI Hartford. She is retired from a 30-year career with Pratt & Whitney's Quality Systems group where she developed computer systems to manage manufacturing processes, established web-based electronic documentation systems, and served as the Senior Editor of Quality Publications.
